Hi there! Welcome to my blog!
I’m a 30 year-old millennial striving for financial independence. I’m just a normal daughter, wife, and friend. This is the space where I want to share my thoughts on money, life, and minimalism.
I was brought up by a traditional Chinese family that emphasized obtaining a good education so that I could graduate and get a good job. Like a good daughter, I did everything according to plan. I graduated from college, worked at decent-paying jobs, earned my MBA, and then started making good money. However, I wasn’t happy. I felt like a corporate slave, working 65+ hours a week.
From that point on, I was committed to financial independence. My goal is to retire by age 40 (10 years from now). To me, financial independence represents freedom. Freedom to do what I want, when I want.
There are other personal finance bloggers retiring in their 20s and 30s, which is great. However, I want to pursue FI without living like a pauper. I enjoy amazing food, nice hotels, and the little luxuries. I want to indulge in these now and in my FIRE days. Because of these little luxuries, it may take until my 40s to retire early, but that is fine. Selective lavishness is my thing. You don’t need to give up all of life’s luxuries to be financially free.
